If you have a Stripe account and you use WooCommerce on your WordPress website, then it would be great to take advantage of Stripe various payment add-ons such as Klarna, Alipay, Ideal, SEPA, WeChat, Bancontact, Przelewy24 etc
Most payment plugins on WordPress don’t have the feature to allow you accept these extra payment methods but today, if you have a Stripe account, you will learn how you can accept more payment methods like Klarna, Alipay, SEPA, Alipay, WeChat, Bancontact and the good part is, you don’t need to have an account for any of these Payment methods, you just need a STRIPE ACCOUNT and you’re good to go.
Now, most of these payment methods has store currencies that they accept, your store need to be in a certain currency to get the payment method to show, I will break it down below.
Normally, the Stripe card payment accept all countries and any visitor can complete their payment, including the Google Pay and Apply Pay.
Stripe Add-on Payment Methods with their Accepted Store Currency
KLARNA
This gateway supports the following store currencies only : EUR, USD, GBP, DKK, SEK, NOK.
And Klarna is supported only for billing country or if buyers country is → United States (US), Austria (AT), Finland (FI), Germany (DE), Netherlands (NL), Denmark (DK), Norway (NO), Sweden (SE), United Kingdom (UK) (GB), Belgium (BE), Spain (ES), Italy (IT).
ALIPAY
This gateway supports the following store currencies only : EUR, AUD, CAD, CNY, GBP, HKD, JPY, NZD, SGD, USD, MYR.
Your store currency need to be set to any of the currencies above if you want to enable Alipay. Luckily, if your store is set to any of the popular currency ‘USD’, that is, if you display your goods in USD prices, then this payment method will show up on your checkout.
IDEAL
This gateway supports the following currencies only : EUR.
This means, your store currency need to be set to EUR if you want to enable IDEAL Payment method on checkouts.
SEPA
This gateway supports the following currencies only : EUR.
This means, your store currency need to be set to EUR if you want to enable SEPA Payment method on checkouts.
Przelewy24
This gateway supports the following currencies only : EUR, PLN (Poland).
This means, your store currency need to be set to either EUR or PLN if you want to enable Przelewy24 Payment method on checkouts.
This gateway supports the following currencies only : AUD, CAD, CHE, CNY, DKK, EUR, GBP, HKD, JPY, NOK, SEK, SGD, USD.
BANCONTACT
This gateway supports the following currencies only : EUR.
This means, your store currency need to be set to EUR if you want to enable BANCONTACT Payment method on checkouts.
Now, depending on what currency you choose for your store, you can now see which payment methods will be enabled on the checkout.
If you display products in USD, then the following will be displayed on checkout:
You can also choose to disable some payment methods on checkout, for example, on my store, I display products in USD but disabled Wechat and enabled the rest.
How to Activate Klarna, Alipay, Ideal Payments Using Stripe on Woocommerce
To get started with activating Klarna, Alipay, Ideal, SEPA, WeChat, Bancontact, Przelewy24, you only need a Stripe Account.
You have to login to your Stripe dashboard and enable these payment addons, here’s a direct link → https://dashboard.stripe.com/settings/payment_methods OR when you’re on your dashboard, click on ‘settings’ and select ‘payment methods’.
Step 1: Select Your Platform
When you get to the payment settings page, under ‘select your platform‘, make sure to select ‘NO PLATFORM‘.
When you select ‘no platform‘, a few more payment methods will be made available to you, now scroll down and ‘TURN ON’ these payment methods we have discussed in this post, because that’s the payment methods that will be made available to us when we integrate it on our website.
Step 2: Download Stripe Payments For WooCommerce by Checkout Plugins
You can download the plugin by clicking here, after download, install and activate it on your wordpress website.
Checkout Plugins is an official stripe partner and part of the Brainstorm Force family of products which are used on millions of websites, in fact they have made many popular plugins such as Cartflows, Astra, Starter templates, cart abandonment recovery etc.
Step 3: Setup Your Stripe payments
When setting up the plugin, you will be asked to connect/link your stripe account, follow the onscreen instructions and you’re almost done.
To get started with setting up or selecting your payment methods, on your wordpress dashboard, goto WooCommerce → Settings → Payments.
To start enabling the payment methods, click on each one and ‘TICK‘ the enable box and it’s enabled.
Confirm Your Connection (STRIPE API SETTINGS)
After selecting your choice of payment methods you want to display, you need to cross check a few things such as your API settings.
Go to the Stripe API Settings, still within your wordpress woocommerce payments section and click on ‘Test Connection’, if it tells you it was successful, then you’re good, but if it says it’s not, then you need to disconnect and reconnect and don’t forget to setup your webhook url.

NOTE: Google Pay will show on all browsers and devices while Apple Pay will only show on browsers owned by Apple such as Safari.
