Joy OkoroSome university graduates has always found it hard to create jobs for themselves which is entrepreneurship,or have been able to secure a blue collar job.
There are few countries that have 30% of employment opportunities ,and the possibility of getting a job in these countries is 50/50,if you’re one of the university graduates seeking a blue collar job.
There maybe some works you’re engaged to that may not be paying off pretty well. After calculating your monthly income with your expenses and other wants,you’ll realize that the job isn’t for you,then you’ll start looking for alternatives.
It’s always painful to know some university graduates cannot find a good job,I understand.
In fact,50% of university graduates in my country (Nigeria) are jobless. Meanwhile,some engage in entrepreneurship.
I have spent time to list out 20 ways university graduates can create jobs for themselves. Thus, you can easily implement them and live a good life without regrets.

1. Blogging :
Blogging is one of the means several people from all over the world are making money from internet. And university graduates can make money from it too.
Blogging is all about creating useful and perhaps educative content for a targeted audience on the internet.
If you think that you have good knowledge on a particular subject, you can make money by sharing your knowledge to a wide range of audience via your blog.
This is how making money from blog works ; if you have good contents on your blog,loads of people (human traffic) will visit your blog. The larger the traffic that visits your blog, the more money you’ll make.
If your blog attracts huge traffic, you can attract adverts from top corporate organizations.
You can also earn money from your blog via AdSense,by offering subscription services to members and also selling products via your blog.
2. Freelance :
Whether it’s related to your current course or your dream career, offer your skills to people who need web design,illustration,writing or admin support. You can get started at fiverr,Upwork,Guru,elance etc.
If you’re good at developing apps,then you’ve already created a job for yourself because you’ll make a lot of money.
There are loads of apps that are being sold on app stores and there is still need for more apps. If you can come up with a unique app, you will be amazed at the amount you can generate from selling the app.

If you’re into PR and advertising then that’s great. One of the ways university graduates can create jobs is to start a YouTube advertising agencies.
Part of what you need to do, is source for YouTube videos that are trending and help your client advertise their product or services on the videos.
5. Sell e-Books :
Another way university graduates can create jobs for themselves is to sell e-Books. You can make up to $3k/month. There are countless number of subjects that you can write about and of course,there will be ready market for such subject.
One of the easiest ways to generate money from selling eBooks is to start writing self-help books or books on ‘How-to’.
For example: If you’re good with graphics,you can write an eBook on ‘How to create a remarkable or fantastic logo in minutes’. There are loads of people out there that will be willing to pay for such books.
E-books are cheap and easy to make. From one eBook, you can continue to generate income as long as the information that it contains is still pretty valid and useful.
E-books (electronic books) are books in soft copies and they can be downloaded online from any part of the world.
6. Become A Social Media Expert Manager :
As University graduates, if you have enough time and are good with various social media platforms,then you can start an online business, managing social media handles for several busy business executives,politicians,government officials,pastors,celebrities and public figures.
Of course, you must display some levels of professionalism and expertise before you can be hired to manage social media handles for people,but the truth remains that college graduates can create jobs from this type of online business.
7. Buy and sell domains :
Another interesting and money-making business that college graduates can start in the internet is to start buying and selling domains.
All you need to do to start this type of business and of course generate money is to look for domain with potential for sale,buy them and then source for those who are interested in buying such domains. You can get started with flippa.

The now famous Mark Zuckerberg the founder of Facebook started Facebook as a student.
The fact that there are several big time networking websites does not in any way stop you from starting your own social networking site.
It may take time before you start making from the site, but with diligence,dedication and hard work , you will sure start generating income from it.
Part of what you need is to choose a niche or concentrate on a target audience that can make it easier for you to attract people to your social networking site.

If you’re an expert in computers and has mastered everything well,then you should offer training to those that wants to learn.
You could probably making a living helping people learn how to use the internet and e-mail to keep in touch with their loved ones.

Some university graduates can choose to repair computer,laptops etc for people. This business is a booming business but it can flourish for you if you have some experience.
Fast forward .. Goto a market place and find a little shop and if you can’t afford,stay with a friend,then get your appliance ready for some work.
11. Electronics Repair :
This business is similar to the computer repair business,but you will take on all sorts of electronic equipments besides just computer.
You’ll need to be prepared to have customers bring their repair projects to you. You’ll also have to tell your friends to give you their old electronics son you can use them for parts.
12. Instrumentals/Music :
No doubt university graduates are skilled. Some university graduates maybe skilled with any of the following ,Drummer, Vocalist, Keyboardist etc can make money teaching or using it in places to attract money.
For example : If you’re a keyboardist, you can offer training to those that are passionate about learning how to become a keyboardist too. You can play keyboards in occasions,churches and you’ll get paid.

Another business that is highly thriving and profitable for university graduates is barbing saloon.
If you’re good at offering nice haircut,and you know you have time to spare in the evenings and the weekends,then you should consider opening a mini barbing salon at your area.

Another easy to set up business that university graduates can start is a boutique business. Boutique is also a typical retailing business and any entrepreneur in any of the world can successfully open a boutique without much stress.
All that is required to lauch this type of business is a store that is well positioned ,money to stock your boutique with different types of colors,shapes and designs of clothes and fashion accessories from different clothing labels/designers.
15. Open A Beauty Salon :
Beauty salon is yet another highly thriving and profitable business that female university graduates should consider starting.
Just like barbing saloon business, thus type of business can be demanding and time-consuming.
Weekends are usually the peak period for this type of business, so ensure that you’re free in weekends.

Another profitable and highly thriving business that university graduates who wants to horn his her entrepreneurial skills should consider starting is to start selling male and female shoes,sandals,slippers and belts etc.
It’s a simple business university graduates can do and its very profitable.
While doing this business, you don’t actually need a shop, because these products you have are easily and often consumed by university students.

If you already have your energy and loads of experience,then working in a hairstyling salon is a good fit.
Sometimes you don’t need to be in a shop ,it can take place anywhere conducive. For example : School, house etc.
18. Jewelry Making :
There are many different ways of getting into the jewelry business and many different types of materials with which you can work on.
You can consider making beads,you sell them and people will buy. You should also have much experience on how this is done, so you can create products that sales best.
19. Photographer :
University graduates can create jobs by becoming a photographer. Becoming a photographer can be done in a number of ways. You can specialize in one area, the most common being wedding’s. You can get started by getting the appliances.
20. Selling Of Cakes :
Making and selling of cakes is yet another easy to start food retailing business university graduates can successfully start.
If you iknow how to bake cake,then you should consider starting a business that deals in cake.
Aside from the fact,that you can retail your cakes yourself,you can also source for weddings,birthday and special anniversaries to market your cake.
